Stremio Plus 0.5.11

Stremio Plus 0.5.11 updates the native player, improves torrent and download recovery, and addresses memory pressure during 4K playback. It includes the changes developed since the previous public release, 0.5.6, while keeping the Prospero UI, DualSense controls, artwork lighting and subtitle customization.

Playback

• VLC inside the existing interface. The native player now uses VideoLAN libVLC 3.0.24 through ZiZc3's VLC PS5 port, with FFmpeg 8.1.2 and dav1d. Supported H.264, HEVC and 8-bit VP9 profile 0 configurations can use the PS5 hardware decoder; other supported formats use software decoding. Compatibility depends on the stream profile and homebrew environment.
• Correct video startup. Playback controls appear when the first video frame reaches the GPU. If audio starts without video, the player retries the same source once using software decoding, keeping its starting position and download. A failed retry stops with an error instead of leaving audio behind the preparation screen.
• More room for decoded pictures. Large VLC pictures use a separate direct-memory pool, bounded to 512 MiB with a 128 MiB contiguous-memory reserve. This reduces pressure on the application heap during 4K software decoding. Buffer ownership is retained until release succeeds, including failed cleanup attempts.
• Reliable resume positions. Slow input startup keeps the requested resume position. Selecting or automatically enabling subtitles no longer seeks or reopens the video. Downloaded episodes retain individual bookmarks and offer playback from the beginning or their saved position.
